b) Skill Test in Stenography:

Candidates who achieve the prescribed qualifying marks will proceed to the Skill Test. The Commission may also set qualifying marks for each section of the Examination. The Skill Test is for qualification purposes, and the Commission will determine the standards for different categories of candidates.

During the Skill Test, candidates will be given a 10-minute dictation in English/Hindi at a speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m) for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The transcription will be done on a computer, and the specified timeframes are as follows:

Candidates selecting the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to become proficient in English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment. Failure to do so may result in probation not being cleared by appointing departments. Candidates must work as English/Hindi stenographers as per the functional requirement of the User Office, regardless of the medium of the Skill Test during the examination.

The Skill Test will be held at the Commission’s Regional/Sub Regional Offices or at other designated Centre(s) as decided by the Commission. Detailed instructions regarding the Skill Test will be communicated by the concerned Regional/Sub Regional Offices of the Commission to the candidates invited for the Skill Test.
